22 July 2011: The first seven critical projects awarded from local SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) were concluded recently by seven teams of OCTAVE students under the mentorship of founding directors and with active involvement of CEOs and owners of these companies. Now, OCTAVE has become the first Business School in India which has fully integrated Real World Industry projects in its curriculum. "The local SMEs are very happy as now they have access to world class business consulting expertise at almost no cost" says Chandra Bhople, Director Operations. "Management education is more like doctor's education. One of the reasons why thousands of MBA graduates are unemployed in India is because they completely miss on practicing their knowledge in real world projects and private industry does not want to hire theoretical MBAs," he continues. OCTAVE is the first educational initiative in India which is being built by large number of alumni of BITS Pilani and with complete focus on bringing good quality management education in Tier-II cities. The professional background of founders, advisors and industry experts is attracting the best faculty in the region to the college.
