Students from Costa de Valencia in Picassent

Students of a Spanish school went to Picassent to discover one of the most typical spanish events – fiesta de los toros (bull running festival).

Valencia. Last Saturday, after whole week of Spanish classes, new students from a Spanish school in Valencia have gone to Picassent, a municipality of Valencia, to participate in the traditional festival of the bulls running. It is one of the most impressive events: dynamism and joy of the habitants of these parties make it the best event of summer. It´s possible to see diferent races of bulls.

Spanish students went to Picassent in the morning. A typical lunch of the region was already waiting for them: sandwiches with tomato, jamón serrano (traditional spanish ham) and cheese. There were also cold drinks to help them to stand the heat.

After lunch, the guide of the group of students (a boy with origins from Picassent) has explained the essential of the party: in 4 streets that form a rectangle they let running 5 or 6 bulls. On these streets there are numerous bars and people, after watching if there´s no bull, have to run from one bar to another. In each of the bars, they put some kind of "showers", so everyone always gets wet if he/she wants it or not. The guide has given to the students an important Spanish class – at the same time class of language and of Spanish culture.

The party started at two: the students entered to the first bar, to dance and taste the typical drinks of the region. They were running, all wets from one bar to another until three and a half, when "els bous al carrer" ended. But this doesn´t mean they returned to Valencia at three and a half! They stayed all afternoon enjoying this cheerful atmosphere!

For this group of students from Costa de Valencia, Spanish school, this Spanish class was fun and will remain unforgettable. Not only they had a posibility to learn the language, but also a very important aspect of Spanish culture.

Since 1995 the language school Costa de Valencia has focused on teaching Spanish to non-native speakers. This language school, which is situated in the heart of Valencia, is a Centro Acreditado of the Instituto Cervantes and a member of many associations.
The teaching material, which is used during the lessons, is worked out by a team of well-versed teachers. One of the most important aspects of teaching in this school is the individual involvement of every single student. This way every student has the possibility to speak very much during the language course. Furthermore, both managers place big value the quality of the language lessons and a broadly diversified leisure programme.
