Awards Contest Recognizes Outstanding Books

New York, NY – Please Use this for Children and Not for War and Guns by Cynthia Blomquist Gustavson has been selected as a Finalist in the 2011 Indie Excellence Awards in the category of “Poetry.”
The Indie Excellence Awards are reserved for the “best of the best” in books published in various genres. The criteria for recognition are stringent and include overall excellence in presentation. This award celebrates the highest achievement in independent press publishing.

Please Use This for Children and Not For War and Guns is a masterful collection of Midwestern poetry. These poems reflect Gustavson’s emotional and spiritual realities that range from the tenderness of a mother and wife, to expressing anger at the injustices of the world. She describes the daily activism of advocating for children and women, as well as being a responsible citizen.
Gustavson is a psycho-therapist in Tulsa, OK and the author of five poetry collections, as well as the In-Versing Your Life Series, 6 self-help workbooks for therapists and clients. She is also author of the award winning children’s book, Ballad of the Rag Man, (2009, Blooming Twig Books) and has been published in numerous journals, including most recently “The Speaker Anthology, Vol. I.” She is a much acclaimed poet, author, speaker and educator, and is on the editorial board of Nimrod International Literary Journal.
Blooming Twig Books is an independent publisher based out of New York that distributes between 20 and 30 titles annually.
