July 15, 2011 | Cleveland, OH – IQS, a leader of enterprise compliance and quality management software announced today that customer SMR Automotive Services, a member of Samvardhana Motherson Group, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of external rearview mirrors for passenger cars, will deploy IQS’ web-based solution throughout all of its manufacturing sites worldwide to centralize quality operations and improve efficiency.

SMR manufactures exterior and interior mirrors and blind spot detection systems for all passenger vehicle segments to nearly every automaker in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.

“As a vertically integrated operation with 16 manufacturing plants, our company needed to streamline its processes and workflows to reduce work duplications globally, and to maximize its return on investment and utilization of key resources,” said Christophe Sib, SMR Automotive, Director, Global IT Business Services. “IQS has been selected as the Quality System for the automotive group to incorporate standardized processes and functionalities across the world.”

IQS was initially implemented at SMR locations in the United States when the solution was only available as client/server software. “In our global rollout, SMR is leveraging the web-based version of IQS to allow for one single IQS instance per region in America, Europe and APAC, with several entities within each region. This solution configuration enables SMR to maximize its return on investment by streamline processes to eliminate waste and labor, and to consolidate our statistics and reporting for making informed business decisions,” said Sib.

IQS is currently being implemented at two sites in Hungary, which accounts for the largest plant in the SMR Group with over 1200 employees. Planning is currently underway for implementing IQS in SMR plants in South and Central America.
