(openPR) - Woburn, MA--- An agreement has been signed that links Innov-X with exclusive manufacturing and marketing capabilities and Austin AI on a range of fully automated scrap-sorting systems that improve recoveries and total value for metal and other recyclers. Innov-X will manufacture the new QXR Systems that are the only automated, high volume sorting and separating system that positively identify and sort mixed metal scrap into product specific categories based on highly specific material chemistry by EDXRF.

Don Sackett, CEO of Innov-X, and Rick Comtois, President of Austin AI, both commented on the outstanding capabilities of both organizations to bring the new range of QXR systems to the worldwide recycling industries. “This is a bright new day for worldwide recycling and green awareness”, Sackett said. “By identifying and sorting materials, Comtois noted, more scrap will be brought into reuse and recycling—including metal, plastics and glass.” Both noted that the primary driver for customers to purchase the new systems is their high return on investment, with a fast payback period of 12 months or less.

These continuous on-line systems have the capability of classifying up to 15 different material types and synchronizing with a variety of diverting mechanisms. Depending on the material type and separation requirements, these systems are able of rendering highly specific sorting in rates of 1-10 tons per hour. Operating at belt speeds up to 300-400 feet per minute, the QXR systems are making decisions on piece ID's in as few as 100 milliseconds.
