The Spine & Pain Institute of New York is Proud to Announce Prestigious Awards Won by Two Doctors

Dr. Kenneth B. Chapman and Dr. Sudhir Diwan of The Spine & Pain Institute of New York have both been honored with awards that signify their skill and dedication towards their patients and the community as a whole.

Staten Island, NY, July 07, 2011 -- Dr. Kenneth B. Chapman, one of the talented doctors who provides advanced pain management treatment at The Spine & Pain Institute of New York, has another award to add to his already impressive list. Dr. Chapman has been awarded the “Annual Circle of Life” honor from University Hospice – a Staten Island organization that specializes in providing palliative care for terminally ill patients.

At University Hospice’s annual gala that took place on Friday, June 17, 2011, Dr. Chapman was one of five honorees who were attributed for the outstanding care and treatment offered to their patients at such challenging times. The Circle of Life award is just one of many awards Dr. Chapman has received. Following an exemplary and highly specialized medical career that includes being board certified in Pain Management and Anesthesiology, he was selected as one of "America's Best Anesthesiologists-Pain Management 2009” and was chosen as “New York Patients’ Choice, 2010.”

From 2006 until present, Dr. Chapman has been awarded many prominent appointments in the field of pain management. These include serving as a Board Examiner for the Fellowship of Interventional Pain Practice Board Certification examination since 2008, and acting as a course instructor at multiple national and international pain management conferences, including the Cleveland Clinic's Annual Conference and at the American Academy of Pain Medicine's National Conference in Washington, DC in March 2011. In March of this year he was voted "Director at Large" for the New York Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

One of Dr. Chapman’s colleagues at The Spine & Pain Institute of New York, Dr. Sudhir Diwan, has also been recognized for his outstanding work and treatment of patients in the pain management field. The 2011 Best American Physicians for the New York metro area has just been released and Dr. Diwan is once again on this prestigious list for pain management. He has now been awarded this honor for the past four consecutive years.

This highly acclaimed list provides names of doctors that provide simply the best treatment in their specialized field, and this award recognizes the talent of Dr. Diwan. In 2007 he was voted “Physician of the Year” by the nursing council of New York Presbyterian Hospital. This March, Dr. Diwan was selected as one of the “70 Best Pain Management Physicians in America” by Becker’s Orthopedic, Spine & Pain Management Review, and in May was selected as one of the “25 Great Physicians in New York” by Becker’s ASC Review.

Dr. Diwan has been published extensively in many pain management publications throughout the world and is a regular speaker at worldwide conferences. These include lecturing at many teaching institutions such as Cornell University New York, The Congress of Anesthesiologists, Intesivists of Serbia, Masaryk’s Teaching Hospital Serbia, Jaslok Hospital Mumbai, India and the Salzburg Weill Cornell Anesthesiology Seminar in Austria.

Well known for treating the most complex and challenging cases of chronic pain, Dr. Diwan has been on the Editorial Board for the Pain Physicians since 2008, is the chairman of the Neuropathic Pain Council of the Neuropathy Association of America, is the Examiner for the Certification Board for American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians (ABIPP) and has recently been appointed President of the New York Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.
