Younghee Hong Displays Harmony and Light at Agora Gallery
Press release from: Agora Gallery
(openPR) - For Immediate Release
NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature Korean artist, Younghee Hong, in The Portal of Tranquility. The exhibition is scheduled to run from July 26, 2011 through August 16, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, July 28, 2011).
About the Artist
In the shifting sunlight and dappled shadows of Younghee Hong’s paintings one finds a calming respite from the noise and confusion of modern life, a harmonious vision of illumination and serenity. Captured in oils, trees twist together in an embrace of roots and rippling branches, glowing with the pure colors of the natural world. One experiences the warmth of the sun in her paintings, the touch of a soft breeze and the calls of birds as they fly amongst the tangled undergrowth. Through her art Hong taps into nature’s ability to soothe the chaos of humanity, finding peace in the wilderness of the botanical gardens she paints. The artist’s personal spirituality plays a major role in her artwork, infusing her creations with a sense of the soul.
Born in South Korea, Younghee Hong’s use of line and space in her compositions is inspired by the traditional calligraphy of her homeland. A graduate of the University of South Florida’s Studio Arts program, she currently lives and exhibits in South Florida.
Exhibition Dates: July 26, 2011 – August 16, 2011
Reception: Thursday, July 28, 2011, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Gallery Location: 530 West 25th St, New York City

A delicate simplicity and a carefully poised perfection define the works in The Portal of Tranquility, an exhibition in which talented artists achieve a beguiling balance between what we know and what we would like to perceive.
