The new data center delivers robust, reliable support to institutions using Ex Libris cloud services across Europe

Hamburg, Germany—July 4, 2011. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce the opening of a new data center to support the Company’s continually expanding range of cloud-based services offered to the European customer community. Located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the data center uses multiple Internet service providers to deliver efficient, reliable, and scalable performance, together with powerful route optimization.

The new Ex Libris data center is based on internationally recognized standards and boasts ultramodern facilities:
• ISO standards: The facilities are certified to meet standards ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/IEC 27001:2005.
• High security: Complete security is provided by four layers of access, including biometric information and a closed-circuit television system.
• Redundant heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems: Energy usage is kept to a minimum through redundant systems for regulating temperature and humidity.
• Continuous power: Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems with N+1 redundancy and backup generator systems are activated in the event of a local utility failure.

“We are proud to have opened a data center dedicated to the delivery of robust cloud-based solutions and services to our European customer base,” commented Uri Livnat, vice president of cloud services at Ex Libris. “Complementing the successful operation of data centers in the United States, which serve over 1000 customers, this new data center optimizes the provision of cloud-based services to thousands of European customers,” he added.

Marc Daubach, corporate vice president at Ex Libris and general manager for Europe explained: “Supported by the new European data center, libraries will enjoy enhanced access to efficient, streamlined product upgrades and the ability to scale up their system without additional local hardware. In addition, libraries will benefit from round-the-clock library-focused technical support.”
