Moodle is a free source e-learning software platform. It has become very popular among educators around the world as a tool for creating online dynamic web sites for their students. Its open source license and modular design allows any developer to create additional modules and features.

Moodle 2.0 Multimedia Cookbook starts off by teaching users how to create and embed 2D and 3D interactive maps in Moodle courses using web resources and free software. It then teaches them how to work with different types of audio files to offer sounds, music, and podcasts in their Moodle courses. They will also learn to record, edit, and convert audio files to make them compatible with Moodle.

Educators will be able to use open source multiplatform tools to create screencasts and edit, link, and embed videos. They will also be able to design and integrate e-Portfolios in Moodle courses to organize the information for students. Customizing multimedia resources within Moodle to be suitable for access through mobile smart phones and tablets will also be understood.

With clear step-by-step instructions, this book is designed for teachers who want to learn how to insert different multimedia assets into their Moodle courses. Readers are expected to have basic knowledge of Moodle 1.9 or 2.0 and have Moodle installed and ready to be worked on. This book is out now and available from Packt.
