Press release from: Ex Libris

The Primo Central Index will extend the search scope of public library users to include a wealth of scholarly materials

Brussels, Belgium; Jerusalem, Israel—June 23, 2011. Ex Libris® Group and Infor Library and Information Solutions are pleased to announce their collaboration to promote the Ex Libris Primo Central Index to public libraries. Through this collaboration, Infor customers will be able to integrate the Primo Central Index of electronic content in their library OPAC or discovery platform and offer an enriched discovery experience to their end users.

Deployed as a cloud-based service at hundreds of libraries around the world, the top-quality Ex Libris Primo Central Index encompasses hundreds of millions of scholarly resources from leading information providers. The Primo Central Index will be made available to Infor customers as an option within Infor’s Iguana, a platform through which libraries can market their services and provide users with a single, personalized environment that fosters collaboration.

“Our customers have long provided their users with a wealth of electronic resources. Now, through our collaboration with Ex Libris, access to these resources will be further improved,” said Ann Melaerts, Infor Library and Information Solutions managing director. “The setup of Primo Central offers significant flexibility, which means that we can readily rank search results by relevance and can present facets, suggestions, and full-text availability. For public libraries that are looking to increase the value of their existing database subscriptions and provide users with additional ways to explore topics of interest, Primo Central is a great fit.”

“We are delighted to have this opportunity to offer the Primo Central Index, through a set of APIs, to the community of public library users,” commented Gilad Gal, Ex Libris director of product management for discovery and delivery solutions. “As a result of this collaboration, knowledge will continue to spread, enriching all those who wish to expand their horizons.”
