Press release from: Innov-X Systems
PR Agency: Armada Group
Innov-X's new SEA-Mate™ System for large diesel engine fuel, lubricant, and additive fluid analysis.
Innov-X's new SEA-Mate™ System for large diesel engine fuel, lubricant, and additive fluid analysis.
(openPR) - Woburn, MA---Visitors to Innov-X’s Booth 1137 at SAE 2007* will learn about the new SEA-Mate™ System for large diesel engine fuel, lubricant, and additive fluid analysis that can significantly reduce ownership costs. The SEA-Mate™ measurements can optimize working fuels, oils and additives and yield predictive failure detection that can minimize downtime. Ideal for truck fleets, mining, agricultural, marine, power generation, and off-highway equipment users-- the system is designed for non-technical operators. This high-performance system is cost-effective and offers a fast return on investment.

The SEA-Mate™ provides concentrations of 10 or more elements critical to large engine operation.
• Elemental analysis for large transportation and land-based power generation
• Optimization of oils, additives usage, and predictive maintenance
• Early detection of abnormal wear from metals such as Fe, V, Cu, Cr, Ni, Pb
• Enables control of oil & additive usage to blend to precise alkalinity levels
• Analyzes S in fuels when bunkering
• Checks for off-spec fuel, fluid contamination
• Measures cat-fines content on-the-spot: Al & Si to 5ppm combined

Reduce testing time for oil analysis to minutes from days. Using advanced X-Ray Fluorescence Technology, SEA-Mate™ real-time elemental analysis can assist with regulatory compliance and environmental impact. The SEA-Mate ™ bench top XRF analyzer tests for on-board/on-station compliance with Marpol Annex VI and Sulphur Emission Control Area regulations for measuring a vessel’s operational fuels, lubes and additives.

A joint venture of Maersk Fluid Technology and Innov-x Systems, the system is ideal for shipboard and land-based high power operations that employ diesel engines. Within minutes using SEA-Mate, you’re able to precisely measure and track wear metals in oil for detecting imminent engine problems, yet it is easy to use. Use it to check Fluid specs with ASP and CBR/Neural network technology.

PC- based for precise control and data analysis. The SEA-Mate has a rugged built-in PC with a touch screen for easy operation. Multiple inputs enable the PC to run the XRF test functions, read bar code inputs, analyze the results, archive and transmit data to a network. This interconnected system enables a user to review individual tests, compare spec limits, plot test data, and compare trends over time. Thus it makes the system capable of monitoring long term performance or to look for anomalies, such as a spike in wear metals indicating incipient problems. MORE

After collecting fluid samples, the bar code reader is connected to the SEA-Mate™ and the system's software links the individual samples to the appropriate sample point in the system database recording time and date of sampling at the same time. When the sample bottle is placed in the machine and analyzed the results are recorded in the database.

As the database is populated with sample results it is possible to analyze trends over time periods of the operator's choice. When a large engine is involved, samples can be taken from every cylinder so that trend analysis can be made either for the whole engine or for specific areas within it. This will permit easier identification of a problem and its likely cause.

The SEA-Mate™ has been tested extensively on-board eight Maersk vessels and at several land-based power stations worldwide. From transportation and logistics, power generation and oil and gas to industrial manufacturing and mining, the SEA-Mate System is designed to reduce your operating and maintenance costs.

"Integrating the global leadership of A.P. Moller-Maersk in transportation systems with that of Innov-X in field-based XRF systems has come as a natural step in expanding our business. We are excited to be part of this joint-venture!"- Don Sackett, CEO of Innov-X Systems, Inc.

Innov-X Systems is a vital new force in the x-ray fluorescence (XRF) industry. Their systems perform fast, accurate chemical analysis in seconds to identify, differentiate and quantify most materials by elemental composition. Founded in 2001, they pioneered handheld XRF instrumentation using a miniature x-ray tube rather than radioactive isotopes. Innov-X has rapidly expanded into many other XRF areas. These include the new SEA-Mate™ System for marine on-board fluids analysis; MobiLab X50, a portable XRF that in comparison to handheld units, delivers higher power and superior performance throughout the periodic table. Innov-X has also taken a leading position in custom XRF and online/automated XRF instrumentation.

With R&D and manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Innov-X has offices in Europe (the Netherlands), and Asia (Hong Kong). They maintain sales and service alliances in Canada, the Middle East, Latin America and worldwide. Service, installation and training is available in over 100 countries.
