Press release from: EXASOL AG
PR Agency: Waggener Edstrom Worldwide GmbH
(openPR) - Specialist for database management systems positions itself for further growth
Nuremberg, 8 June 2011 – EXASOL AG has appointed Gerhard Rumpff to the Board of Di-rectors. He follows Richard Seibt to the post and will work together closely with both other members of the board, Dr. Knud Klingler and Chairman Jochen Tschunke. Rumpff has over 30 years of management experience in global IT and software companies like Microsoft and IBM. In addition, he is very familiar with EXASOL AG and the market for high-performance databases. From April 2008 to April 2010, he served as chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) for the Nuremburg company.
EXASOL AG develops and markets the high-performance database EXASolution, based on in-memory technology, which was designed especially for enterprise warehouse applications and business intelligence solutions. This allows very large amounts of data to be analysed and evaluated in the shortest amount of time. Thanks to the high performance and low ad-ministrative maintenance, EXASolution supports businesses not just with valuable decision-making fundamentals from their data, but also by reducing the total cost of ownership. In April of this year, EXASOL AG was distinguished by Gartner as a “Cool Vendor” in the category of Data Management and Integration for 2011.
“We are very happy to have Gerhard Rumpff on board with us again, and to benefit from his expertise in business strategy and management,” says Steffen Weissbarth, CEO of EXASOL AG. “He has a broad wealth of experience, with which we can best position ourselves for the challenges to come as a provider of technology “made in Germany”.
In addition to his current activities for EXASOL AG, Gerhard Rumpff works as an independent business consultant. Before his first engagement with EXASOL AG, he spent two years as CEO for asknet AG. This position was preceded by roles as enterprise director for Microsoft Australia, managing director of Australia/New Zealand for Webmethod, managing director of Australia/New Zealand for 3COM, as well as general manager for software and networking at IBM Australia/New Zealand and as managing director for Lotus in Australia/New Zealand, central Europe, and eastern Europe.
Rumpff’s predecessor, Richard Seibt, had been a member of the board of directors for EXASOL AG since 2008, and left the company at his own request to pursue new professional challenges.
