Valensi Rose Attorney Michael Morris to Moderate Tax Update Panel at 2011 Entertainment Industry Conference

Morris of Valensi Rose, PLC will moderate the Tax Update panel discussion of the Entertainment Industry Conference on June 15, 2011, at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica, California. The annual Entertainment Industry Conference is presented by the California CPA Education Foundation.
“The purpose of this panel is to keep CPAs and other financial and business professionals in the entertainment industry abreast of the latest laws that pertain to estate planning and income taxes, including international developments, ,” said Mr. Morris. “These laws and regulations continuously change. In order for tax professional to effectively serve entertainment clients, we must keep up to date.”
The panel will discuss current estate planning developments, including uncertainty under the new laws, the use of the $5 million estate, gift and generation skipping tax (GST) exemptions and charitable planning. The panel will also cover international tax issues that involve structuring deals, foreign tax credits and foreign bank and financial account reports (FBARs).
Other panelists include attorneys Stuart H. Anolik of CBIZ MHM LLC in Bethesda, Maryland; Michel R. Stein of Hochman, Salkin, Rettig, Toshcher & Perez in Beverly Hills, California; and Philip S. Magaram of Valensi Rose, PLC in Century City, California.
The conference is designed for CPAs whose clients include film, music and production studios and related businesses, as well as business managers, attorneys, bankers, CPAs, CFOs and controllers who work in the entertainment industry.
Mr. Morris is past president of the California Copyright Conference and has been named a “Super Lawyer” among Southern California lawyers for six consecutive years, from 2006 through 2011. He was also designated by the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of “L.A.’s Top 100 Lawyers” in 2009. His clients include Grammy winners and other recording artists, record labels, production companies, music composers, on-screen talent and talent agents.
