Salt Lake City, May 23, 2011 - Stevens-Henager College, known for its career-focused post-college education, now offers two respiratory therapy degrees designed to help graduates enter the challenging profession—an Associate of Science (AS) and an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Respiratory Therapy, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Respiratory Therapy.

The associate’s degree, focused on the technical scope of respiratory therapy, prepares graduates for entry-level positions in a variety of healthcare environments. The program includes courses that train students in various aspects of respiratory therapy as well as equip them with business, communication, and computer skills. In addition to this, students complete a clinical externship, which gives them practical experience in respiratory care. Upon completion of the program, graduates are expected to have the skills and knowledge necessary to provide crucial therapeutic, diagnostic, and life support services under the supervision of doctors and nurses.

The program can be completed in 20 months at Stevens-Henager College and is available at its Salt Lake City/Murray and Boise campuses, as well as the satellite of the Boise campus in Nampa, ID.

The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy degree is the next step forward. It is designed to provide the education and training that respiratory therapists need for career advancement. The focus of the program’s curriculum is on respiratory care management and issues in respiratory therapy, as well as other advanced courses. Graduates of the BS program have the knowledge and experience required to pursue supervisory opportunities in their field.

The BS in Respiratory Therapy degree can be completed in 36 months and is available at Stevens-Henager College’s Salt Lake City/Murray campus.

Enrollment in the AS, AAS, and BS programs requires a number of prerequisites, including a high school diploma or GED® certificate, completion of certain pre-courses, and passing a drug screening test, a criminal background check, and an admissions test.
