Blechexpo 2011 in Stuttgart – Industrial gases specialist Messer showcases its wide product range for welding and cutting
Press release from: Messer Group GmbH

TIG welding is particularly well suited for welding high-alloy steels, aluminium and other non-ferrous metals.
Insight into the Messer World
The 270 m2 Messer World stand will feature exhibits from the four Messer sister companies – Messer Group, Messer Industriegase, Messer Cutting Systems and MesserSoft – as well as Jenoptik, a German specialist in laser material processing. This has now become a tradition, after the sister companies had already welcomed trade visitors and the public to a joint stand at EuroBLECH 2010 in Hanover. At this year’s event, Messer will once again be offering visitors expert advice and practical demonstrations, including MAG welding of plain steels and TIG welding of high-alloy steels with the tried and tested ternary mixtures.
Shielding gases for more quality, safety and efficiency
”The gas mixtures used for MAG welding feature a number of impressive properties, including very low spatter tendency and clean, neat seams. This significantly reduces the need to rework the welds. Among other things, the gas mixtures for TIG welding facilitate high welding speeds in any welding position and reduce annealing colour,” explains Dr. Bernd Hildebrandt, Technology Manager Welding & Cutting at Messer Group.
The Messer World – everything from a single source
The Messer World pools many years of experience and extensive expertise. Whether it be customised laser, plasma or oxyfuel solutions from Messer Cutting Systems, suitable gas supply solutions from the Messer Group, ERP interfaces from MesserSoft or spare parts, repair or modernisation services tailored to the production requirements of customers – the Messer World provides everything from a single source.
Messer is one of the leading industrial gas companies, and is active in over 30 countries in Europe and Asia, as well as Peru, with over 60 operating companies. Its international activities are managed from Frankfurt am Main, whilst management of core technical functions – logistics, engineering, production and applications engineering – is undertaken from Krefeld. In 2010, 5,288 employees generated consolidated sales of € 909 million.
From acetylene to xenon, the Messer Group has one of the most diverse product portfolios on the market – it produces industrial gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, helium, shielding gases for welding, specialty gases, medical gases and many different gas mixtures.
The Messer Group has state-of-the-art research and competence centers in which it develops applied technologies for the use of gases in almost every sector of industry, in food technology and environmental technology, medicine as well as research and science.
