SDT-Toolbox: Securing Functional Safety at Model Level

05-17-2011 09:32 PM CET | IT, New Media & Software

Press release from: Model Engineering Solutions GmbH

The Strong Data Typing Toolbox (SDT-Toolbox) extension for the Model Examiner checks Simulink and TargetLink models for aspects of functional safety in accordance with IEC 61508, ISO 26262, and DO-178 B, thereby helping developers identify potential problems at an early stage.

Berlin, 17 May 2011 – Model Engineering Solutions GmbH (MES) from Berlin has announced the first official release 1.3 of its SDT-Toolbox, the new extension for the popular Model Examiner, a tool that supports analysis and correction of guideline violations for Simulink and TargetLink models.

The SDT-Toolbox was specially designed for developers and quality managers responsible for functional safety at model level, and offers a powerful extension to the tried and tested Model Examiner. The SDT-Toolbox identifies potential sources of error in the model, which can result from inadmissible type conversions or range violations in arithmetic operations, non-initialized variables, or the inappropriate use of signals at module interfaces. As a result, the mandatory requirements of accepted safety standards such as IEC 61508, ISO 26262, and DO-178 B can be safely met.

In conjunction with the release of the SDT-Toolbox, MES is also publishing its own free collection of indispensable modeling guidelines, which has been compiled over many years experience in model quality assurance.

Please contact MES directly to request a fully functional evaluation license.
