North Carolina - May 15, 2011 - As American industry continues to be exported, young creatives are bringing textiles back to North Carolina.

In recent years, an increasing surge of American companies have been looking to developing nations for their industrial needs, a trend that has turned many industrial hubs of America into mere ghost-towns. A new trend is emerging, however. Young entrepreneurs from across the nation are bringing textiles back home. Freaker USA Inc., a small company in North Carolina is one of many young ventures to choose their homestead as a production center.

Anyone who has spent substantial time in North Carolina has seen abandoned mill towns, continually growing sparser. Take for example Troy, North Carolina. A once booming community with textile mills, now just a quaint town running dry. Freaker USA is trying to reverse this exodus. Zach Crain, the founder and President of Freaker USA believes in the simple notion that American textiles should be made in America. “It's a very basic concept, but it's an important one that seems to have been forgotten,” says Crain. He has corralled together a group of young creatives known as “The Freakerteam” to help him on his venture.

The company is currently being showcased on the reward-based crowdfunding platform Kickstarter.com in hopes of raising enough money for a new line of Freaker products to be manufactured in Troy. “It's a little more pricey than China's going rate, but the quality of production is better and this is creating jobs here in America,” says Lauren Krakauskas, member of The Freakerteam. The company chose crowdfunding on Kickstarter rather than the traditional route of angel investors so that they could continue to independently make decisions such as where the products are made.

Freaker USA Inc is not the only business with Carolinian textile dreams. Companies such as Ruby Assata (Wilmington, NC), and Lumina Clothing (Raleigh, NC), also refuse to export their industries. If this momentum continues, we could see ghost-towns such as Troy revitalized in the near future.

FReaKer USA is a North Carolina based company that is on the forefront of keeping your bottles cool and your hands more comfortable! We are pursuing our american dream of preventing all moist handshakes with our patent pending product the “Freaker”.
