(openPR) - PPP in road infrastructure is classified as the largest PPP project in India and the Indian government highly promotes and would only approve road work projects if it is based on a PPP structure. India has a record of 3.3 million kilometers of road network making them the second largest in the world. Indian roads today can carry about 61% of the freight and 85% of the passenger traffic. Due to the large network structure and long term financing which are needed for road development projects, India strongly encourages and welcomes foreign direct investments (FDI).
