Press release from: NoMachine

Rome, Italy -- NoMachine, award-winning provider of virtual desktop and application delivery software, and Deltaeffe, a leading service provider and supplier of innovative technologies, today announced a partnership that will feature NX as part of Deltaeffe's Scuola Virtuale offering, or "Virtual School", allowing Italian schools to easily deploy and manage hosted virtual Linux desktops and applications in the cloud.

Scuola Virtuale, recently showcased at SMAU Rome by Deltaeffe, is a solution aimed at educational institutions that runs in Telecom Italia's cloud computing datacenter, Ospit@ Virtuale. Deltaeffe, a Telecom Italia partner since 2002, has now added the Linux-based cloud service offering to its portfolio to help schools reduce costs, ICT complexity and administration as well as ease the transition of computing to the cloud. Linux services will be hosted on NX Servers to permit secure access and an enhanced virtual desktop computing experience.

By moving in-house ICT to the cloud, schools avoid having to purchase expensive additional servers and a range of disparate software solutions, with the additional expense of continuous hands-on management and upgrade of the infrastructure. They also minimize the risks of desktop theft and damage, use less energy and reduce carbon footprint. Furthermore, parents get peace of mind knowing that schools ensure pupils are provided with the opportunity to use secure and locked down remote desktops, access online textbooks, homework and much more outside of the traditional classroom, often at home.

Hosting these resources on Linux servers and accessing them via NX provides staff and students alike with fast and secure access to their computing environment. Desktops and applications can be made accessible to specific users, similarly other applications can be disabled. Functionalities such as file-sharing, printing and desktop sharing can be enabled to promote student-to-teacher and group collaboration.

Deltaeffe, with its knowledge and expertise in the latest cloud architectures and services,
leverages Linux applications to meet schools' IT implementation and support requirements
ad-hoc. By partnering with NoMachine, this knowledge is now extended to the delivery of Linux virtual desktops in Telecom's cloud.
