Press release from: Squires Public Relations for Penny Lane Family Centers
PR Agency: Squires Public Relations
West Hollywood, CA -- On April 21, members of the LGBTQ community will have a chance to laugh and learn about becoming foster and adoptive parents at Arms Wide Open, a free stand-up comedy show and fundraiser on behalf of Penny Lane Family Centers.
Produced and hosted by Dan Rothenberg (Comedy Central, Regretrosexual) the show will headline Dana Gould (HBO, Letterman), and feature Erin Foley (Comedy Central Presents), Mark Davis (Comedy Central), and Nico Santos (Fags and Hags).
Representatives from Penny Lane Family Centers will be on hand, to distribute information and answer questions on how to become a foster and/or adoptive parent. A silent auction will take place and donations for Penny Lane will be accepted.
West Hollywood City Councilmember Abbe Land will also attend, presenting a certificate of appreciation to Penny Lane Centers and Dan Rothenberg for their efforts in support of LGBTQ parenting.
“We are honored to have this event take place in West Hollywood, and I am thrilled to participate," said City Councilmember Abbe Land. "It is vitally important that the LGBT community is included in efforts to attract qualified foster and adoptive parents for the thousands and thousands of children who need safe homes and good families."
Cameron Glasgow, Director of Business Development for Penny Lane says the organization supports prospective parents of all sexual orientations. “A gay or lesbian parent can be just as good a parent as any other. Our focus is on helping the kids.”
Penny Lane Family Centers (www.pennylane.org) is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization providing therapeutic residential treatment, foster care, adoption services, and transitional housing for youth who would otherwise be homeless.
Penny Lane welcomes all prospective foster and adoptive parents, regardless of gender, race, age, religion, disability, marital status, ethnic background, sexual orientation, sexual expression and gender identity. It is currently one of only 11 agencies nationwide which have been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign's All Children - All Families program as a leader in supporting and serving LGBT families.
Arms Wide Open will take place on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Hamburger Mary’s, 8288 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, CA at 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Admission is free.
