I Buy Steel Launches Free System for Automating the Commodity Procurement Process

Livonia, Michigan, USA – April 17, 2011- I Buy Steel announces the release of the Rapid Quote System (RQS) which is designed to automate the commodity procurement process.

The Rapid Quote System is a free web-based system that is designed to assist commodity buyers in reducing the time to create and process a Request For Quote (RFQ). Through the use of RFQ templates, a supplier database, email integration, and an RFQ activity screen, buyers can create, launch, track and review all their RFQ activity.

RFQ Templates is a standard feature of the RQS. For greater efficiency, multiple line-items may be entered into an RFQ. Each template can be saved, edited and sent to multiple suppliers when information is complete.

An integrated commodity supplier database allows the commodity buyer to select the suppliers to whom they want to send the RFQ.

Emails are sent to suppliers, with a secure link which can be used to respond to the RFQ. A copy of what the supplier has submitted to the buyer is emailed to the supplier as a PDF document.

For buyers that use multiple commodities and geometries, the RQS product will soon support multiple commodities. An optional premium version of The Rapid Quote System will also be available soon.

With fewer resources and more workload than ever before, companies are looking for tools to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their workforce.

The Rapid Quote System was developed through a Lean Six Sigma event which focused on improving the efficiency of commodity buyers. In addition to this, another focus of the system is to improve the effectiveness in finding the best commodity pricing in order to gain a competitive edge.
