Post Myocardial Infarction Heart Failure Knowledge Centre launched
EPG Health Media announce the launch of a new interactive Post Myocardial Infarction Heart Failure knowledge centre for healthcare professionals. The educational resource is freely available to doctors at EPG Online (www.epgonline.org/postMIheartfailure).Myocardial Infarction (MI) is more commonly known as a Heart Attack. The most common cause is a build up of fatty acids or a rupture within a coronary artery, which results in a restriction in the blood supply and a lack of oxygen to the heart. If this is left untreated for a sufficient amount of time, it can cause extensive damage or even result in death.
The post MI knowledge centre is designed to provide information and support to General Practitioners, Cardiologists and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment and care of Post MI sufferers. It offers insight into the types and causes of heart failure, its diagnosis, treatment and management and includes an overview of acute coronary syndromes and heart failure along with guidelines to ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction and non-ST-segment elevation.
Non-pharmacological treatment modalities play an important role in the management of the post-myocardial infarction (MI) patient, as do pharmacological interventions which have been proven to reduce morbidity and mortality and/or improve symptoms.
Sponsored by Pfizer Ltd, the Post MI knowledge centre provides an overview of pharmacological and non pharmacological management with supporting case studies - along with a series of physician focused print, downloadable content and multimedia. Additional resources include a diary of relevant congress and conference events.
