Capturing Impressions in Michael Katz's Artwork at Agora Gallery
Press release from: Agora Gallery
(openPR) - Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature an Miami artist, Michael Katz, in Altered States of Reality: an Exhibition of Analog and Digital Fine Art Photography. The exhibition is scheduled to run from April 19, 2011 through May 10, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, April 21, 2011).
About the Artist
Stirringly lyrical in composition, photographer Michael Katz sensitively seeks to tease an inspirational truth from the monotony of everyday life. Katz’s photographs are like a delicate microscope through which we refreshingly and intimately see what often passes us by. Details, pulsating with an invigorating poetry, enliven Katz’s sensual, arresting colors. Ephemeral impressions are memorialized through Katz’s perceptive and precise compositions. Katz’s photographs don’t haunt us, however; instead, they sweetly arouse in us a sense of appreciation for everyday pleasures. Elegantly evocative of moments passed too soon, Katz’s photographs are subtle entreaties to enjoy the simple joys of life. “I just want people to be able to stop and stare at my images and feel the photo in their hearts and mind and walk away with a peaceful feeling and how it relates to themselves,” Katz states, simply but movingly.
Raised in Brooklyn, New York, Katz lives and works in Miami, Florida.
Exhibition Dates: April 19, 2011 - May 10, 2011
Reception: Thursday, April 21, 2011, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
