Simply Soaps Demonstrates How Manufacturing Can Offset A Carbon Footprint
Press release from: Juniper Innovations
(openPR) - Swindon, Wiltshire, Simply Soaps, a manufacturer who has been creating natural and organic skincare for over 13 years, has joined Juniper Innovations and ISRetail in supporting The Supply Chain Carbon Council’s project, to help reduce supply chain carbon emissions.
Jim Jones, Director at Simply Soaps explains “we responded to The Supply Chain Carbon Council’s request for help on this project. Supplying natural and organic skincare product all over the UK we have some understanding about carbon foot printing and believe in principle, that using technology to help reduce carbon emissions is a positive step forward.”
Simply Soaps however go further as they have been offsetting their carbon footprint for several years. As Jim explains “Our main product area of expertise is cold process soaps. Cold process is a traditional method of soap making meaning that each soap is made from scratch using 100% food grade oils such as coconut, sustainable palm oil and locally sourced rapeseed oil, once used the soap really is like food for the skin. Our environmental policies mean we use green energy from Ecotricity, we vet all our suppliers to be sure that the ingredients purchased are from a traceable source that is kind to the environment, plus we try to source as local as possible. We recycle as much as we can and much of our packaging is either compostable or made from recycled material. All our range is made without chemicals that are both harmful to the environment and your skin.”
Jim continues “we’re the largest cold processing soap manufacturer in the UK and it’s important we support initiatives to reduce carbon footprints as well as doing more ourselves to minimise the impact of our own carbon footprint.”
The value to the project is tremendous. Simply Soaps supply to retailers of all sizes and therefore will help demonstrate the value of offsetting carbon footprints to all companies including SMEs (small & medium size enterprises). It will also help to demonstrate how RFID and NFC (near field communication) technology can operate in smaller and local businesses and not just large corporations.
“We at the Carbon Council are delighted to have Simply Soaps as a partner in the project as they will demonstrate that technological advancements when it comes to Carbon Emissions are not the sole preserve of the large multinational corporates” Comments John Connors CEO of the Supply Chain Carbon Council.
About Simply Soaps
Simply Soaps have been creating natural and organic skincare for over 13 years. We have not changed our manufacturing process or our ethical policy in all those years. Our manufacturing facility is in beautiful natural surroundings in Norwich, England, where we have a team of dedicated staff who help turn raw materials into handmade skincare products that are suitable for the whole family. We believe that as our products are made within nature the synergy with creating natural products is a balanced and harmonious one. Over the next 12 months we shall be focusing on a new range of unique candles, a set of gift wrapped soaps and also becoming more attuned as a company with our involvement in doing more to minimise the impact of our carbon footprint.
