SongFight.org Embarks on First Ever West Coast Tour
Press release from: songfight.org
PR Agency: Songfight PR
(openPR) - Over 15 Acts from the Online Community of Musicians Prepares to Hit Nine Cities in Three States Starting March 24 in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, Calif., March 24, 2007 – The first tour in support of the online community for musicians, SongFight.org, will kick-off this weekend at Synergy Café in Culver City. On Saturday, March 24, at 7:00 p.m., six bands will rock the house by showcasing their original music for all in attendance. This tour is an extension of the ongoing activity at www.songfight.org, which has attracted the attention of many web portals, entertainment guides, and print publications, including a mention in SPIN magazine.
The tour is the first of its kind and will feature over 15 different acts in nine shows across the Western United States. Shows are booked locally by bands who then act as hosts for out of town bands. The number of bands playing will vary from night to night depending on the show. On average, four – five acts will perform each night.
“The tour is an outgrowth of the yearly Songfight! Live show which takes place in a different city every year, as well as the many shows we have put on in Los Angeles and San Francisco,” said Ken Mahru, lead organizer of the tour and five year Songfight.org participant. “The original idea was that people would play whatever shows they were able and no one would have to play the entire tour. In that way, it could go on forever. Each person, each city, each show a link in the chain.”
The kick-off show takes place March 24 in Los Angeles, Calif. and ends March 31 in Spokane, Wash. Other shows slated for the tour include stops in San Luis Obispo, Berkeley, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle.
Participating local bands at Syngery Café include prayformojo (electro-indie-soul), Seamus Collective (indiepop), and Ross Durand (folk). Several acts from out of town will appear as well, including Tiny Robots (indiepop) (Berkeley), Ken’s Super Duper Band ‘n Stuff (indierock) (Berkeley), and Mico Saudad (rock) (Seattle). In addition to material previously presented at songfight.org, bands will play any original and cover songs of their choosing.
The first show will take place at Synergy Café (4455 Overland Ave in Culver City, CA 90230). Cost of the show is $5 and is all ages.
Additional details about the tour including dates, venues, and artists performing, as well as mp3s from some of the acts participating, can be found at
