HALCON 8.0 in Summer 2007

HALCON 8.0: the new version of the software library for machine vision with numerous worldwide novelties will be released to the market in June 2007.
Since its market launch ten years ago, HALCON has been considered throughout the world as a technology-leading force in machine vision software. The development of the new version 8.0 is already complete, the subsequent test phase is currently running, and its market launch gets prepared for the summer 2007.
“Still, our product comprises more than only the actual software library”, says Dr. Olaf Munkelt, MVTec’s managing director. “In addition, we provide an individual support for free throughout the world. From our point of view, it also is very important to thoroughly prepare our more than 30 distributor partners for this market launch. Thus, in May 2007 we will hold an international training for distribution employees from more than 20 countries. Thereafter, HALCON 8.0 will be released to the market. The goal must be to offer optimum support for the new HALCON 8.0 functionalities to the customers from the first day on.”
HALCON 8.0 will be available in June 2007. All HALCON users will see that challenging machine vision will be faster than ever and, in addition, easier to develop. HALCON 8.0 will provide more than one hundred new operators. Furthermore, for typical applications the speed of the entire software library was enhanced by 25%, single operators by up to 500%. Moreover, HALCON’s unique IDE (integrated development environment) for machine vision, HDevelop and HDevEngine, now provides assistants to simplify the generation of frequently used operator sequences.
Numerous worldwide novelties in HALCON 8.0 will bring new possibilities for machine vision. Here are only a few examples:
* “Third Generation Matching” for 3D objects
* Shape-based matching in color images (multi-channel images)
* New operators for dramatically OCR advancement
* HALCON/.NET interface; for increased performance and more efficient programming
as with the COM interface, in Mono also for Linux. Here, HALCON is unrivaled on the
machine vision market.
