International Conference on Property Tax Reforms: Challenges and Opportunities

03-01-2011 06:02 PM CET | Science & Education

Press release from: International Property Tax Institute (IPTI)

Toronto, On., February 8, 2011—The International Property Tax Institute will hold its annual conference on May 10-11th , 2011 at the Hilton Dublin Hotel in Dublin, Ireland. The 14th annual conference is organized in partnership with the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation (IRRV).

“The conference will be an excellent opportunity to discuss revenue sources and property tax regimes in the time of public financial crises across the globe”, said Jerry Grad, president of IPTI. “This is going to be a truly informative and unique event where delegates from all over the world will participate in discussion and hear presentations on timely topics from international and local experts.”

Currently Ireland is debating residential property taxation reform by reintroducing property tax to broaden the tax base and help stabilize public finances. Other countries may follow Ireland’s steps to assist local government revenue mobilization.

In this context, the topics at the conference will focus on such issues as financing local governments, local and international perspectives relating to real property taxation, valuation and taxation as well as ‘at times’ uneasy relationship between taxpayers and government.

The conference promises to be a truly unique experience of views exchange and networking opportunities. The venue is also comfortably situated on the banks of the Grand Canal with only a short walking distance to many picturesque sites of Dublin.

Information on the Conference and the programme can be found at: http://www.ipti.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Dublin-FINAL-BROCHURE-REGISTRATION-Final.pdf
