Mazda Sets Record Sales in January, Looks Forward to a Productive Year
Press release from: Jupiter Motors
2011 is shaping up to be a productive year for Mazda Australia.
Mazda Australia started the new year with a record sales of 7,200 units in January and a 9.8% market share. This represents an increase of 500 units and an increase of 0.9% in market share from the start of 2010, which eventually turned to be a record sales year.
For the 2nd time in the last six months, Mazda is the country’s third best selling automotive brand.
Mazda’s impressive January sales record was due to the strong performance of its passenger vehicles and SUVs, with the popular Mazda3 in first place. Mazda3 became Australia’s second most popular vehicle with 3,605 units sold and a 19.2% segment share.
Mazda2 also had one of its strongest months ever with 1,359 units sold and an 11.3% segment share.
With Mazda Australia performing so well for January, Managing Director Doug Dickson has expressed his optimism for the rest of 2011. “To start 2011 in such a manner is very pleasing and we have to acknowledge the efforts of the Mazda dealer network who have hit the ground running this year.
January, however, is a period where Mazda traditionally tends to do well and the challenge from here is to continue that momentum,” he added.
“The year has just started but we’re looking optimistically towards the remainder of the year as we see new Mazda products coming through.”
Other bestsellers for January include the evergreen Mazda6 with 516 units sold and 14.5% market share and the Mazda CX-7 with 704 units sold and 8.3% segment share.
Mazda’s sales performance is sure to get even stronger as the new Mazda MX-5 Special Edition is made available in Australian showrooms in limited numbers in February.
