EXASolution 3.3: faster integration with EXAjload Bulk Loader
Press release from: EXASOL AG
PR Agency: Waggener Edstrom Worldwide
(openPR) - Nuremberg, 21. February 2011 – The relational EXASolution high-performance database is now available in version 3.3. The most important innovations include the EXAjload Bulk Loader and extra features in the areas of linear regression, aliases as well as statistical and inverse distribution functions. EXASOL customers who choose EXASolution 3.3 as a base for their data warehouse benefit from the improved performance of their enterprise warehouse applications and business intelligence solutions. This means your data can now be evaluated more quickly and accurately while still giving you a major competitive edge.
In version 3.3, EXASOL has enhanced its high-performance database–which is based on in-memory technology–with the EXAjload bulk loader. This simplifies the integration of the EXASolution loader interface in extract-transform-load (ETL) tools. Until now, customers` ETL developers have had to create SQL commands for loading the database single-handedly, but now the ETL tools can easily send the data to EXAjload. This method decidedly simplifies and speeds up the integration of EXASolution in existing IT environments.
Other new features:
· Inverse distribution functions (PERCENTILE_CONT(), PERCENTILE_DISC(),
MEDIAN ()).
· Statistical functions (COVAR_POP(), COVAR_SAMP(), CORR ()).
· Nine extra functions for linear regression (REGR_*()).
· Additional aliases (YEAR (), MONTH (), DAY(),…) to improve compatibility with
DB2, the IBM database management system.
Existing EXASolution functions have been further enhanced. In version 3.3, the export command has been upgraded with additional options for comma separated value (CSV) files:
· Now, headers can also be exported with column names, and field delimiters
can be adjusted variably (DELIMIT ALWAYS I NEVER I AUTO).
· In addition to this, it is also possible to export data in an arranged manner.
Even EXAoperation, the administration tool for the cluster system, has been improved:
· With EXASolution 3.3 additional standards for hardware management (IPMI) are supported within a cluster.
· Monitoring possibilities have been increased.
Furthermore, EXAoperation can now also maintain several management
servers per cluster.
"With the new features in EXASolution 3.3, we make it even easier to integrate our relational high-performance database into the existing IT environment. Additionally, we have focused on optimising frequently-used functions," explains Steffen Weissbarth, CEO of EXASOL AG. "Our in-memory database, which does not require tuning maintenance, supports companies in reducing their total cost of ownership and administrative expenses–EXASolution 3.3 enables our customers to react even more quickly and be more flexible to new requirements ".
