Active Constructions to build Netherlands’ biggest nature climbing park
Press release from: Active Constructions
AvaTarz Nature Park choses high quality concept for ultimate outdoor experience.
The commencement of extensive earthworks at Oldenzaal Hulsbeek marks the official starting point of the so far largest ECO forest climbing park on Dutch soil. During the weeks to come, Active Constructions (ACS), the Dutch climbing park designer who also acts as project manager on behalf of AvaTarZ Nature Park, will transform the site by extensive landscaping which also includes setting up the forest climbing courses as well as various timber constructions on and around the grounds.
“Awarding the contract to ACS was a total no-brainer”, laughs Wim Doedens, the founder of the AvaTarZ nature park. “The company has an excellent track record when it comes to safety, sustainability and ecological friendliness. Besides, ACS has proven a valuable, trustworthy and highly competent partner from day one onwards.”
“Our objectives are 100% congruent to those of our clients,” confirms Kees-Jan Verwaal, the managing director of ACS. “Together we will do everything it takes to provide all future visitors of the site with a memorable climbing adventure in an natural environment as unspoilt as possible.”
Bas Morsink, the program manager of AvaTarZ, is also excited: “ACS doesn’t just pay lip service to the terms innovation, quality and sustainability. In fact, they are continuously investing a high proportion of their revenue into these areas.”
“We’ve been looking at the practical applicability in great detail,” explains Morsink. “Particularly addressing the problem of eco-compatibility and tree care during the long-term operation of a commercial outdoor leisure park. In this context, we commissioned a study by a group of tree specialists lead by Frits Gielissen, Netherlands’ leading expert on tree care and forest preservation. They evaluated a whole range of devices. When it comes to safety and eco-compatibility, the ACS technology is unrivalled.”
“Innovation is one of our company’s core strategies,” adds Verwaal. “We spent the past year developing and testing the underlying technical procedures in close cooperation with independent certification bodies as well as with experts on nature preservation. We wanted to make our outdoor activities as exciting as it gets. However, not at the expense of nature itself.”
If everything goes according to plan, parts of the new high wire forest park will open to the public from mid of April onwards. Once the entire construction work is completed, visitors can tackle five different climbing course layouts consisting of more than 70 individual obstacles high above ground. The park will also feature various zip lines, the longest of which covering a distance of approx 200 yards.
