AwoX Extends DLNA support for Android
Press release from: AwoX
(openPR) - Montpellier, February 12, 2011 - AwoX support for Android has been extended to include additional DLNA components. AwoX previously announced MediaCTRL for Android, available at the Android MarketPlace, which supports DLNA control point and server functionality. AwoX has since developed and released support for local media discovery and playback, “digital media player “ capability, on Android mobile devices and home networked devices such as tablets. Recently added support for DLNA download capability, allows users to grab their content directly from a DLNA certified server (NAS , PC, etc) in the home, and carry that content with them wherever they go for playback at any time on the mobile device’s media player, or on another DLNA certified playback device.
This full suite of Android 2.2/2.3 tested DLNA components enables mobile device manufacturers building products based on Android, to easily integrate advanced home connectivity features directly into their mobile devices. As of the end of 2010, there were already in excess of 1.5 million Android devices being used in the market, utilizing AwoX DLNA technology.
For manufacturers of other home-networked devices, AwoX delivers turnkey solutions for branding and UI customization of DLNA certified remote control applications for both Android and iOS. These applications enable visibility of your brand’s look and feel on your customer’s handheld device and in their minds.
“This rounding out of AwoX’s DLNA offering for the Android ecosystem, demonstrates AwoX’s capabilities to offer both end-user solutions and easily customizable turnkey solutions for industry. By easily enabling DLNA control and playback in mobile devices AwoX lowers the overall cost of complete solutions for our OEM device customers, and ultimately consumers. These types of solutions enable brands to unbundle previously mandatory remote control hardware from the end product. These types of advancements are breaking down the barriers to mass adoption of DLNA as the preferred home networking standard,” stated Alain Molinié, CEO AwoX.
