New Online Guide to Valentine's Day and Romantic Breaks in France

Press release from: French Connections
(openPR) - Established French holiday website www.frenchconnections.co.uk has published an online guide to Valentine’s Day and romantic trips to France, where couples of all ages can find fresh ideas and inspiration.

With its sensual language, sumptuous dishes, fine wines and sparkling champagne; its idyllic pastoral scenes, quaint villages and open beaches, la belle France is truly the country of lovers and a romantic destination for Valentine’s Day that is easily accessible.

The guide reveal that in France the day is known simply as Le Valentin and its romantic messages are said to have been invented by a Frenchman, the Duke of Orleans, while imprisoned in the Tower of London after the battle of Agincourt.

Perhaps the ultimate French destination, it suggests, is St Valentin, a pretty village in Indre, close to the Loire valley, and the only place in France named after St Valentine. During the week leading up to 14th February, events and ceremonies abound, all dedicated to l’amour and les amoureux. A special temporary post office even opens for sending Valentine cards.

Among the guide's other ideas are:

- Advice for planning a great value, tailor-made holiday in Paris, city of lovers – the art of turning dreams into memories.

- Romantic coastlines to visit where earth, sky and sea unite, from the sparkling golden beaches of the Mediterranean coast to the rugged rock faces of the North Sea.

- Romantic places of interest from châteaux, cathedrals and breathtaking gardens to delicious eateries, fascinating vineyards and visitor attractions.

- The top cities in France for a romantic break. Right across France lie cities that just ooze romance, history, culture and fun events.

The French Connections guide also suggests romantic gîtes, hotels, chateaux and welcoming B&Bs to help you choose the perfect place to stay in all parts of France for a Valentine’s trip. Browsers can also get information and book travel to France, as well as following links for discounted travel.
