Tranquility and Symmetry in Fumitosh Kamura’s Buddha Series at Agora Gallery
Press release from: Agora Gallery
(openPR) - Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature Tokyo native, Fumitoshi Kamura, in Matrix of the Mind: Contemporary Fine Art by Japanese Artists. The exhibition is scheduled to run from March 1, 2011 through March 22, 2011 (opening reception: Thursday, March 3, 2011).
About the Artist
Using simple geometric elements to create elegant designs, Fumitoshi Kamura encapsulates the gentleness, dignity and quietness of the Buddha. He takes beauty and tranquility as his mantra, and so the utmost care is taken to balance the composition and match tone and hue, resulting in a refined symmetry. Pattern plays a large part in Kamura’s compositions, and it is here that he draws in the various traditions of the Buddha. Indian positions and designs trace their way over Japanese backdrops or vases, whilst Western church windows and crosses appear in ornate borders. It is a harmonious fusion, held together by the mosaic of pastel shades and rich earth tones that, for all the flatness of the computer generated images, lend his work tremendous depth.
Currently living and working in his native Tokyo, Japan, Fumitoshi Kamura is an artist and graphic designer. He has traveled widely, drawing on the rich traditions of his own culture to inspire his journey through others.
Exhibition Dates: March 1, 2011 – March 22, 2011
Reception: Thursday, March 3, 2011, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Gallery Location: 530 West 25th St, New York City
