NMEA 2000 support for J1939 protocol software from IXXAT
Press release from: IXXAT Automation GmbH
(openPR) - Especially for the development of devices and systems for the maritime sector, IXXAT now offers an extension for its proven J1939 protocol software according to the NMEA 2000 standard. The extension enables the quick and cost-effective development of NMEA 2000 Level A&B Class 1 devices.
The NMEA 2000 Protocol of the National Marine Electronics Association defines messages and mechanisms for applications in the maritime sector.
Besides the "Fast Packet" protocol for rapid transmission of data blocks up to a size of 223 bytes, also further features, such as dynamic "Address Claiming", "Complex Request", "Complex Command" and "Complex Acknowledgment" are part of the extension offered by IXXAT.
The NMEA 2000 standard parameter groups (PGs), such as "Product Informa-tion", "Configuration Information" and "Transmit/Receive" lists, are directly sup-ported.
Using the IXXAT NMEA 2000 extension module in conjunction with the J1939 protocol software, a NMEA 2000 interface according to the currently valid NMEA 2000 standard can be implemented into maritime devices with low development risk and in a short time, enabling a fast time-to-market. The NMEA 2000 extension module, and the J1939 protocol software, are provided completely in ANSI-C. This allows to use the software on any target system and to easily adapt it to customer requirements. IXXAT also offers services for the development of customer specific hardware and software and the development of OEM products.
In addition to the featured product, IXXAT offers a J1939 API for the development of PC-based applications, such as applications for diagnostics, mainten-ance/service and control, and with the J1939 designer an editor and code gene-rator for J1939 projects.
