(openPR) - New solutions provide higher performance, lower cost, and improved time-to-market platforms for Network Equipment Manufacturers



TAIPEI, Taiwan, January 31, 2011 – Advantech (TWSE: 2395.TW), a global manufacturer of telecom computing blades and multicore network processor platforms, will showcase several new ATCA-based products at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona. Advantech will demonstrate solutions that are available in multiple-processor architectures and that can scale up to 256 cores, all in a range of form factors, including ATCA, MicroTCA, Packetarium, and CPCI.

The demonstrations will be focused on two areas critical to equipment manufacturers: performance and time-to-market.



Accelerating Network Performance

Advantech’s multi-core solutions are leading the industry transformation to network platforms that offer higher performance, plus increased scalability and reliability, all at lower costs. Advantech will demonstrate ATCA-based blades and platforms using a variety of processors from the industry’s leading x86, NPU and DSP silicon manufacturers. Leveraging their design re-use capabilities, the new processor technologies will be demonstrated in ATCA, AMC and PCIe form factors, and in Advantech’s Packetarium Network Application Platform, a cost-optimized alternative to ATCA.



The recently announced Packetarium NCP-3120 rack-mount Network Processor Platform using the Cavium 6-core OCTEON II CN6335 Internet Application Processor and the MIC-3395/MIC-5603 single board computer based on the latest x86 processors will also be featured.



Accelerating Time-to-Market

Advantech will showcase a variety of solutions from ecosystem partners at MWC. Advantech’s FWA-6500 Network Server, based on dual 6-core x86 server class processors running software optimized for multi-core platforms from Wind River and 6WIND, will be on display. Using simulated traffic, near linear performance scalability and processor efficiency will be demonstrated.
