(openPR) - DALLAS – Albon Head, a partner in Jackson Walker’s Forth Worth office, was selected to receive Southern Methodist University’s 2010 Silver Anniversary Mustang Award. Mr. Head was honored on January 22 in Dallas, at SMU’s halftime of their men’s basketball game against Southern Mississippi.

The award is the most prestigious award one can receive from SMU’s Lettermen Association. The chosen recipient must have graduated from SMU at least 25 years ago and have made a significant, positive and lasting impact on his/her community.

Mr. Head received both his B.A. and J.D. degrees from Southern Methodist University. He lettered in football at SMU from 1966-68, was a defensive back on the 1966 SWC Championship team and was a co-captain on the 1968 Bluebonnet Bowl championship team, which defeated Oklahoma 28-27. From 1968-70, Mr. Head was a graduate assistant coach at SMU. Mr. Head has served as chairman of the SMU Alumni Association, is a member of the executive board of SMU Dedman School of Law and of SMU-in-Taos, and is currently chairman of the SMU Athletic Forum & Doak Walker National Running Back Award. In 2003, he was honored with the SMU Dedman School of Law Distinguished Alumni Award.

Mr. Head has practiced in the federal and state courts in Texas and in other jurisdictions since 1971, specializing in a variety of matters including complex business litigation, contract disputes, tax matters, fiduciary liability, real estate conflicts, toxic tort and environmental defense, eminent domain and condemnation, pipeline and right-of-way litigation, railroad litigation, intellectual property and franchise litigation. He has handled matters in the entertainment law area, labor and employment related issues, defense of major national firms in professional liability matters, litigation involving significant business and property issues in family law, sports law, agribusiness, and in ERISA litigation.

Mr. Head is listed in The Best Lawyers in America under Commercial Litigation, Railroad Law, and Bet-the-Company Litigation. Mr. Head was named a “Super Lawyer” by Thomson Reuters (2003-2010) and was included in the Top 100 for Texas and the Top 100 for Dallas-Fort Worth. He was named a “Top Attorney” by Fort Worth, Texas magazine and as an “Attorney of Excellence” and a “Power Attorney” by the Fort Worth Business Press. He was also honored by Super Lawyers, Corporate Counsel Edition for being a “Super Lawyer in Business Litigation.” He is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
