Perreaux Releases Integrated Amplifier for the Modern Audiophile

New Zealand hi fi amplifier manufacturer Perreaux is proud to announce the international release of their Audiant 80i integrated amplifier.

Capable of producing 80W with 8 Ohm loudspeakers (130W with 4 Ohm), the Audiant 80i integrated amplifier continues the tradition of previous Perreaux pieces – engaging, purposeful and controlled.

The 80i features a custom-designed 400VA toroid power transformer and, along with the low-impedance power supply, provides low electrical and mechanical noise while offering well-regulated voltage and current on-demand.

Incorporating an upsampling 24-bit/96kHz digital to analogue converter (DAC) with USB, optical & coaxial digital inputs, a touch button interface and contemporary styling – the Audiant 80i is squarely targeted at today’s modern audiophile.

The Audiant integrated amplifier also includes an onboard moving-magnet (MM) phono stage, keeping vinyl on the menu; as well as sporting a selectable home theatre input for seamless integration into cinema systems.

Basic control of computer music applications, such as iTunes and Windows Media Player, via the Audiant infrared (IR) remote control, dimmable LED backlighting of the touch button interface and standby power consumption under 1W for the energy conscious; are some of the nice touches included by the forward-thinking Perreaux team.

The 80i integrated amplifier is the first component in Perreaux’s new Audiant range – priced at $2,995 USD, high-end hi fi is now not just for the rich and famous. The Audiant 80i integrated amplifier is shipping now.

The new Audiant 80i integrated amplifier is on exhibition at T.H.E Show, which is open to the public from January 6-9 2011. The 80i is available for demonstration in rooms 4053 & 4057 of the Flamingo Hotel, Las Vegas, USA.

Perreaux is a designer and manufacturer of hi fi audio components and first opened for business in 1974 in Napier, New Zealand. The early 80’s saw Perreaux explode onto the US market with the SM2 Stereo Preamplifier and PMF2150B Stereo Power Amplifier. This combination captured the imagination of world markets and word started to spread as the audio press started recognising this hitherto unknown company called Perreaux.

In 1991 Perreaux re-located their factory to Auckland, New Zealand, enabling them to utilise the increased resources that Auckland had to offer over Napier. While in Auckland Perreaux continued to develop products including the acclaimed Reference Series, popular E-Series and prestigious Radiance R200i.

Perreaux moved to Dunedin, New Zealand, in 2005 (which is where the engineering team and factory is still based) and they remain as passionate and committed as those first days in 1974.
