Wind River, RadiSys and OpenClovis announced that Airvana, a leader in IP-based mobile broadband network infrastructure, has adopted a comprehensive, pre-integrated hardware and software solution, jointly developed by the three vendors, as the foundation for its Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (ATCA)-based networking applications. This collaborative solution is comprised of Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition, the RadiSys Promentum family of ATCA hardware platforms and OpenClovis Application Service Platform (ASP). Airvana selected the integrated, commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS), 10G ATCA-based solution to significantly accelerate time-to-market and reduce development costs for its leading-edge network solutions. With this solution, Airvana is able to focus resources immediately on value-add application development rather than component integration.

Airvana develops mobile broadband network infrastructure systems based on Internet Protocol (IP). Airvana's IP-based products deliver carrier-grade mobility, scalability and reliability and are optimized for mobile broadband multimedia service deployment. The complete, open-standards-based, carrier-grade COTS solution developed by Wind River, RadiSys and OpenClovis, eliminates Airvana's need to allocate resources for developing basic protocols and platform management solutions. This allows Airvana to concentrate on the application layer and on operational features that appeal to and satisfy network operators' needs for greater interoperability and affordability.

Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition includes a complete Carrier Grade Linux operating system, a rich set of networking middleware and a comprehensive set of development tools, Wind River Workbench. With this platform, telecommunications equipment manufacturers can develop and run the complete range of network equipment applications from core and enterprise to access and edge devices.

The RadiSys Promentum SYS-6010 is the industry's first ATCA 10Gigabit managed platform. It's a fully integrated and validated managed platform designed to address high speed I/O and bandwidth intensive traffic-bearing applications implemented in a flexible and reliable architecture complete with comprehensive system management.

The OpenClovis Application Service Platform (ASP) and Integrated Development Environment (IDE) help network equipment vendors quickly and cost-effectively build platform manageability and high availability into their next generation communication products. The OpenClovis ASP provides a complete off-the-shelf, standards aligned, manageability and high availability software solution. It is operating system-and platform-agnostic, and is pre-integrated with Wind River Platform for Network Equipment, Linux Edition.
