Onepoint Project 10.2 Integrates JIRA Projects into IPMA/PMI Project Controlling
New release extends real-time JIRA integration and adds explicit dates controllingGraz, December 16, 2010 – Onepoint Software, the leading provider of integrated project and portfolio management (PPM) solutions will release the second iteration of its JIRA Connector Option by the end of this week. Onepoint Project 10.2 features an extended real-time integration with Atlassian’s well-known issue tracking and agile development software. Additionally, the new version boasts explicit IPMA dates controlling as well as a number of technical improvements such as enhanced printing functionality.
While the first version of Onepoint’s JIRA Connector focused on issue tracking and product backlogs, the second iteration is all about live integration of actual JIRA projects into Onepoint’s project and portfolio database. The goal is to have a comprehensive overview across all projects, for instance, via Onepoint’s well-received project “pipeline” view. In addition, resources assigned to JIRA tasks are taken into account for Onepoint’s resource management calculations, thus providing one consistent resource utilization view across all projects and teams.
JIRA projects are shown as dynamic, read-only project plans in Onepoint and can be enriched via context information in order to allow IPMA standard reports to be printed via the press of a button. Most planning and monitoring views are also available for JIRA projects. This includes the work breakdown structure (WBS) and earned value charts which both provide much more insight into the status and the dynamics of a JIRA project. Even explicit project controlling is possible for JIRA projects. Users simply fill out project controlling sheets and can then print them as formal project progress reports.

Next to extending the integration with JIRA, the new version rounds up Onepoint’s IPMA controlling cycle by adding explicit dates controlling. Using a new “Dates” tab on the progress tool, the project manager can now explicitly specify projected start and finish dates without creating a new project plan version. In addition, Onepoint Project 10.2 also extends the multi-project progress information by visualizing deviations and basing the trend bar calculations on earned value. Finally, a history of this new progress information is kept when using Onepoint’s explicit controlling cycle.
