The Bush Response
Press release from: Imperato For President
(openPR) - West Palm Beach, FL – February 8, 2007 – Today, Daniel Imperato, 2008 Independent Presidential Candidate, voiced his concerns over terrorism in Africa and one year later, Bush's response.
"Once again, I call on the American people to recognize that, one year ago. I spoke of the serious problems growing in East Africa. I am happy to see our president, George W. Bush, taking notice of this issue," stated Imperato.
Earlier today, President George W. Bush, along with Defense Secretary Robert Gates, announced that the US will setup an African command, hoping to strengthen security and root out terrorists in East Africa.
In a February 2006 press release, Imperato stated, "Bush must make sure that, if he doesn't want the spread of drug trafficking, the spread of money laundering, the spread of terrorism, which is already being established in the East African countries, he must act now." (Imperato. 2008 White House Contender on United States and Yemen… Al-Bawaba. February 2006).
Imperato pointed to his previous calls for action, as a sign of his knowledge of global affairs, and his ability to lead our nation.
"Based upon the fact that I have requested immediate attention to the region of East Africa, pertaining to the al-Qaeda influence, it makes me very happy because it proves once again that I have the wisdom, knowledge, and ability to point out issues, and come up with solutions."
"Unfortunately, I am not the president at this time, but hopefully, the American people will see the fact that I called out our leadership to address this issue. Once again several months later, which in my opinion was long overdue, our president decided to take the time to address this issue."
Imperato since his initial February 2006 remarks has called out for Bush administration action on this issue on several occasions (See "Imperato Leading Independent Presidential Candidate Speaks Out on the Footsteps of Bin Laden..." September 11, 2006. and "Leading Independent Presidential Candidate Imperato Speaks Out about Israel, the Lebanon Conflict, Iraq, Yemen, and East Africa" August, 04, 2006.)
Imperato concluded his remarks with the following, "I thank the people of the USA for taking the time to review the facts in my press releases, dating back to February of 2006, and to please consider placing their vote of confidence for Imperato For President 2008."
