Red Gate Gallery invited a group of artists to submit work for an exhibition in January 2011 titled 'Image to Object'. Artists are asked to submit works which explore the relationship between the nature of the image and the object whilst challenging the boundaries between 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional disciplines. The exhibition will ask where the image ends and the object begins, and discuss how the artist's process or intervention transforms the image into an object, or vice versa.
Taking inspiration from art which uses devices such as the vitrine, archives, assemblage, found-objects or ready-mades artists are invited to test the interface between space, material and process.
The work presented throughout the duration of the exhibition will be in any form, including, but not limited to, painting, drawing, photography, installation, sculpture, live art or performance art.
