Catena Technologies Develops iPhone Application for ChargeBox U.K.

Press release from: Catena Technologies

10 December 2010 – Catena Technologies, a consulting firm that implements custom solutions using advanced technologies, announced the release of an iPhone application that it developed for London-based ChargeBox. The iPhone application is available on the UK Apple App Store as “Low Battery”.

The iPhone application helps people locate nearby ChargeBoxes when their mobile phone’s battery is running low. ChargeBoxes can be found using the user’s current location or by entering a city, postcode, or Underground station. The application shows the distance to each ChargeBox, its address, and its location on a map.

“Our Low Battery app is a key step forward in raising awareness of our simple and secure mobile device charging kiosks,” said Sophia Sergides, Head of UK Business Development at ChargeBox. “By engaging with our users as soon as they become concerned about their battery level rather than when they stumble upon our product, we hope to improve their experience. As we deploy ChargeBoxes in other countries, we will be rolling the app out to the other app stores as well."

She went on to say, “Catena did a great job delivering a high-quality application quickly and without a detailed set of requirements. They developed a initial prototype and then worked with us to refine the application over several weeks.“

The Low Battery application is free to download from the UK Apple App Store and was featured under "What's Hot" for Utilities. A video that demonstrates the application’s features is available on the Internet at: http://chargebox.com/iphoneapp/appvideo.html

“Well designed mobile phone applications can complement and enhance other service delivery channels, such as the Internet, call centers, email, and SMS,” said Randall Duran, Catena Technologies’ Chief Executive Officer. “The ChargeBox iPhone application is another example of Catena’s ability to deliver effective multi-channel solutions.”
