(openPR) - Yesterday Lindsey Vonn and the Women's U.S. Alpine Ski Team arrived in Zell am See-Kaprun! Until March 2011 the professional athletes are preparing for the upcoming European competitions of the Ski World Cup as well as for the World Championships held in Garmisch-Patenkirchen. The team around head coach Alexander Hödlmoser has already participated in the first overseas races of the season. The ladies are now getting ready for the next sporting challenges of another seven races in France, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland as well as the World Championships in February.

The journey to the venues of the competitions promises to be a comfortable one thanks to the ten VW Caravelle transporters. The German car manufacturer Volkswagen has sponsored the vans to support the U.S. ladies on their way to the world cup title. On Tuesday afternoon, keys changed hands at Porsche Inter Auto GmbH car dealer in Zell am See. Managing director Dr. Ernst Rosenberger and representatives of the cable car service providers Gletscherbahnen Kaprun and Schmittenhöhebahn AG appreciated the opportunity to wish the team all the best for their sporting ambitions in the current season.

Thanks to its extremely flexible interior, the Caravelle offers space for up to nine passengers. Space that is desperately needed! After all, the U.S. team consists of about 45 members and travels with roughly three tons of material. Until next spring the U.S. delegation is lodging at Mountain Motel in Kaprun. The team will be guests in the region in the next four years again, too. Only recently, the cooperation has been extended until the Winter Olympics 2012 in Sochi.

The holiday region of Zell am See-Kaprun with its 15,000 beds and two million overnight stays per year is one of the most important holiday destinations in Austria. The beautiful flora and fauna in the Alpine panorama and Lake Zell guarantee relaxation and well-being. Golfing, hiking, and bathing are at the focus for the summer time programme, but visitors can choose from more than 40 other activities as well. During the cold season, fun on skis and boards make sure that there is no dull moment. Skiers can comfortably reach the 138 kilometres of slopes covered with powder snow by one of the 54 lifts. Snowboarders enjoy the perfect conditions of the Snowpark on the 2,600-metre-high glacier plateau. Even in the summer you can swish down the slopes here. And family-friendliness is a top priority in Zell am See and Kaprun. For this reason, the region has already received various awards.
