Press release from: Clarke Traeger
PR Agency: Clarke Traeger
(openPR) - New Internet Poll shows most people are not prepared to tell if they have ever downloaded MP3 music illegally.

According to a new survey of users at website wmamp3player.com, the majority of people when asked "Have You Ever Illegally Downloaded Mp3 Files?" an amazing 96% of people refused to answer the question.

This poll created an avalanche of emails to the webmaster some claiming that even asking such a question constituted an invasion of privacy. Some respondents are demanding to know who is responsible for putting such a question up as a poll and even threatening to commence legal action to have the poll question taken off the site.

According to Clarke Traeger, publisher and webmaster of wmamp3player.com he didn't set out to cause controversy and is certainly not able to fight any threat of legal action. He has quickly removed the poll question from the site today and In a prepared statement Clarke has said "I didn't think the question was divisive and there was certainly no intention to pry into peoples personal business I'm really not sure why people have reacted so alarmingly".

Legal representative for the site owner has stated that the poll was part of an ongoing study into claims that the music industry is losing huge amounts of it's income to music piracy. The site owner believes that the music industry may actually be wrong in it's claims of the billions that being lost to piracy. Furthermore he believes that the music industry may in fact be trying beat the piracy issue up in order to increase industry profit margins.

The whole idea of this poll was to gather some compelling evidence to support the theory that illegal music downloads may in fact increase sales to the music industry. This poll question is part of a series of questions that have been designed by a leading expert in order to resolve the question of the value or otherwise of piracy to the music industry.
