Advanced Technology Korea Project Unveils Winners of Its Video Contest - Tyler Short wins the US$12000 Grand Prize

Press release from: Advanced Technology Korea Video Contest
[Seoul, South Korea – Dec. 6, 2010]
The Advanced Technology Korea project announced the winners of the Advanced Technology Korea Video Contest today. The winning videos were selected from submissions created by Korean technology enthusiasts from around the world, who displayed their creativity and talents to promote Korean products.
Submitted videos ranged from humorous displays of Korean products to creative futuristic videos of Korean technology. The competition was intense. Judges had to discuss for hours during each judging period in order to select the videos that would make it to the next stage.
Three winners were selected from 15 finalists. The finalist videos were voted on by the public during the public voting period. On Friday, December 3rd, a panel of judges evaluated each video thoroughly based on the judging criteria established in the Official Rules of the Contest. With the judges’ opinions counting for half of the overall ranking, and the public votes counting for another half, the winners were then revealed. The 12 finalist videos that made it to the public voting stage, but were not among the top three were awarded the finalist prize of US$1000.

The winning submissions are:
1) Grand Prize (US $12,000) - “Advanced Technology Korea: The Music Video” by Tyler Short (U.S.)
2) First Prize (US $5,000) – “A Good Day to Stay Inside” by Samuel Cowden (U.S.)
3) Second Prize (US $3,000) – “The Almost Korean Family” by Phil Roberts (U.S.)

The winners’ announcement concludes the five-month contest sponsored by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).

Mr. Sangmook Kim, Director of KOTRA’s Brand Promotion Team expressed, “on behalf of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy of Korea and the Presidential Council on Nation Branding, we would like to thank all the participants of this contest. We hope that it helped to expose Korea’s advanced technology to many people around the world.”

The prize-winning videos are available for viewing on the contest website, www.advancedtechnologykorea.com, and the Presidential Council on Nation Branding’s official YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/koreabrand.
