Opix Media City 9.2: Support for integrated media production processes
Press release from: Six Offene Systeme GmbH
(openPR) - Extended web functionality, integration of third party applications and a modern technology are the focus of the new Six Media Asset Management System release Opix Media City 9.2
Stuttgart, 24 November 2010 ---- With Media City 9.2 (SixOMC 9.2) Six Offene Systeme GmbH presents a new version of its Enterprise Media Asset Management system. The new version has more new features than any previous release of Opix Media City in its 15 years of product history: In addition to WebCenter enhancements and a completely new rights concept, the release provides seamless integration with some Adobe® and Microsoft® applications as well as optimized server processes for collaboration with remote locations.
Based on the new WebCenter concept introduced nine months ago Opix Media City is now able to cover complete and complex media management and production processes. The job management of production processes as well as the distribution functionality for media data have been included in the web client along with a newly designed rights concept. Further enhancements to the so-called WebCenter include for instance WebExpress functionalities—access via browser without login for a defined time-frame for downloading certain files and uploading images to a defined destination—as well as the integration of the action server.
By applying CSS and individual icons, the look and feel of the WebCenter can be adjusted to comply with the corporate design of individual customers. Extended search possibilities such as a search by category or by job complement the search options. Image downloads with conversion sets, a preview for flash video clips and a multi-page preview round off this new version.
„Seamless integration of the media asset management system with third-party applications is essential if you want to create continuous media production processes and take advantage of automation effects“ explains Ralph Kissner, managing director of Six Offene Systeme GmbH. „Opix Media City 9.2 takes a large step forward: With our two new ways of connecting to InDesign it is now possible to automate to a large extent the creation of richly designed media material such as flyers, prospects, datasheets or catalogues thus reducing production costs significantly.“ Additionally, the InDesign® client enables users to directly search for media data in Opix libraries without having to leave the Adobe® application.
Opix Media City 9.2 also allows users to directly access pictures from Microsoft Office applications, for instance for use in PowerPoint presentations or other types of advertising material.
A newly created interface for the PIM system XMedia enables both MyView and Opix Media City customers to use data from the two systems for the production of media material.
Server processes for working in parallel from different locations has become more stable and transparent thanks to new technology for increased reliability and improved performance. Redesigned from scratch, the SyncServer which provides data for remote locations and handles synchronization processes with the central file server is now a separate module.
Furthermore, improvements were made to the image conversion function and the process for creating thumbnails and previews has been redesigned.
