DVB-T Monitoring made easy with 2wcom's FlexMon DVB-T

Press release from: 2wcom GmbH
(openPR) - Flensburg/Germany, 19.11.2010 – With digital technology replacing analogue broadcasting the demands to monitor the transmission of digital systems is growing strong. 2wcom developed a sophisticated and flexible DVB-T monitoring receiver which allows to monitor networks at any time. The FlexMon DVB-T performs a variety of activities which include monitoring of the MPEG transport stream, validating the timing information of the Megaframe Initializing Packets (MIP) as well as monitoring the SFN performance and verifying the GPS reference.

The 2wcom DVB-T Monitoring System will continuously monitor and validate the incoming MPEG data against the standard defaults or user defined presets (MPEG-2 Error Measurement). An additional and special part at the DVB-T MPEG stream is the MIP (Megaframe Initializing Packets). The MIP carries timing information to synchronize all transmitters in the broadcast DVB-T network. The FlexMon DVB-T is able to validate all timing information, to figure out general errors and to alarm when the timing errors frequently exceed the defined limits.

With the GPS reference the 2wcom FlexMon DVB-T is able to focus on SFN (Single frequency networks) performance in broadcast networks. In conjunction with a very well known receiver delay the system is able to figure out synchronization error or changes down to about 1 µs.

The FlexMon DVB-T is designed to keep an ear on your system and to alert you whenever things are starting to run out of limits so you can take immediate action to ensure continued coverage in your broadcasting area. Particularly the measurement of the Modulation Error Ratio (MER) until 36-38 dB allows to detect a decline even of high quality signals.

„Together with the user friendly operation concept and a clearly arranged menu navigation the FlexMon DVB-T guarantees a comprehensive monitoring of your DVB-T network”, summarizes Ove Kamentz, Head of Engineering at 2wcom, the benefit of the 2wcom FlexMon DVB-T Monitoring system.
