Capscan Adds Support for UK Mail Discount Schemes to Sortcode

Capscan, a leading supplier of UK and international address management solutions and data quality services, today announces the availability of the latest version of its mailing software, Sortcode. The software now supports UK Mail as well as Royal Mail and TNT discount schemes for bulk mailing, ensuring optimum savings for organisations.

Any organisation that mails on a regular basis can benefit from the selection of bulk discount schemes offered by major mail carriers. Mail sent using any of these schemes (typically 4,000+ letters at once) must all conform to the criteria specified by the carrier, which includes pre-sorting, formatting and adding of barcodes and selection codes to address data prior to mailing.

Capscan’s latest version of Sortcode does just this and now supports schemes run by UK Mail, alongside support for TNT and Royal Mail. By passing on this task to the customer, carriers are able to offer significant discounts to organisations. Sortcode can also be used alongside UK Mail’s Consignor software, which is used by organisations making frequent and high volume mailings to print postage labels.

“Having your contact database populated with accurate address data is key to maximising discounts and enabling Sortcode to operate as efficiently as possible,” comments Managing Director of Capscan, Terry Hiles. “Sortcode can be used in conjunction with Capscan’s Matchcode software, which validates address data against the Royal Mail’s Postcode Address File (PAF) or D&B Business data, ensuring the data quality of the database being processed. This method gives up to an extra 30% saving, assuming 90%+ of addresses are to PAF standard.”

Capscan’s Sortcode software now supports the following mailing discount schemes from UK Mail, Royal Mail and TNT:

- UK Mail: UK Mail 1400, UK Mail 700, UK Mail 120 and UK Mail Walksort.
- Royal Mail: Mailsort 1400 (the most commonly used for standard mailings), Mailsort 700, Mailsort 120, Walksort (where mailings are concentrated to a specific area or location), Presstream and Presstream Walksort.
- TNT: Premier 1400, Premier 700, Premier 120, Premier Walksort
