The Power of Keywords to Enhance your Resume
Press release from: BriteTab
Utilizing the best keywords for a resume can enhance the effectiveness of your resume. If you could virtually ensure that your potential employer would be interested in setting up an interview with you just because of a view key words used in your resume, wouldn’t you want to know what those words were? Job-hunting can be a tedious and confusing task. However, today many employers who scan resumes are now looking for those few keywords to find people they are interested in. Some companies who require resume’s to be submitted online even place submissions in a database to be sifted through depending on certain keywords. Of course these keywords vary from job to job, however, what remains consistent are the following:
✤ Use action verbs. “Achieved, arbitrated, facilitated”. Sound professional and emphasize the importance of how you accomplished tasks
✤ Focus on nouns. The “what” that you performed in a previous job is just as important as how you did it. Keep in mind the position you are applying for and how it is defined. For example, if applying for a marketing job use “marketing” or “project-management” or “products” or “events” as keywords in your resume.
✤ Use keywords that relate to the skills and experience the employer is looking for. These keywords should be job specific. Certain skills, terms, expertise, titles, certifications, names of products that tend to impress larger companies can be used as keywords in your resume.
✤Analyze an employment ad to target the keywords that an employer is looking for. The listing of the job description can give insight in they type of words that the employer is looking for.
✤Once you’ve pinpointed keywords for your resume, sprinkle them throughout an early section of your resume so it is not overlooked by the database search. Create a “Summary of Qualifications at the beginning” to make a platform for what your resume will include.
✤In order to utilize the keywords, take each one you’ve identified as critical to the job and lost an accomplishment of yours that contains that keywords.
✤After you have included the keywords in your profile or summary, continues to have keywords appear in the rest of your resume. The more you use them, the better the chance a database pulls your resume our of it’s search.
✤Use synonyms for the keywords you have identified just in case the employer used a different version of the word.
✤Tailor each of your resumes to the job you’re applying to. Each job may require you to identify different keywords to weave into your resume.
Again, sprinkling those keywords in your resume will allow your resume to be effective when uploaded to web-based site. As employers search for candidates, the more keywords you have that they are searching for, the better the chance of your resume being considered. Enhance your resume with keywords to assure its effectiveness on an Internet database.
