Advantech Adopts “Polaris Tested” Stamp on Self-Certified xTCA Products
Press release from: Advantech Co Ltd
(openPR) - AdvancedTCA Summit, Santa Clara, USA, Nov 9th 2010: Advantech, a global manufacturer of telecom computing blades and multicore network processor platforms, today announced that they will adopt the “Polaris tested” stamp as a seal of design quality for interoperability. Advantech’s range of xTCA products are tested using test tools from Polaris Networks, a leader in software test solutions for telecommunications and wireless networking. In addition to regular interoperability testing at CP-TA and PICMG plug fests, Advantech employs all three xTCA testers from Polaris for the test and validation of xTCA hardware designs and firmware releases.
The ATCA Tester is an automated test suite for testing the management software in ATCA-based building blocks or systems and has been validated by the CP-TA as an authorized test tool. Advantech makes extensive use of it to test its Intel® Xeon® Processor 5600 Series ATCA node blades as well as in the validation of its switch blades. For MicroTCA and AdvancedMCs, the test tools are used to verify Module Management Controllers (MMC) compliance on all Advantech AMCs, and in particular for the carrier managers on the MCHs. In addition, Polaris' testers are also used for Design Quality Assurance (DQA) during firmware development, and in the later phases they are used for QA measures.
“The Polaris tools are a great benefit to Advantech and the xTCA community,” said Peter Marek, Director for the Advantech Blade Computing Division. “They have helped us greatly to develop mature xTCA products that achieve CP-TA compliance and have saved us and our customers a lot of time and effort during system integration. From our experience, passing Polaris’ tests is a reliable indication of design quality, manageability and interoperability of xTCA building blocks. Advantech will be adopting the 'Polaris Tested' stamp on product datasheets to reflect the fact that our products are CP-TA compliant.”
“The idea was to design a stamp which would symbolize a product's compliance to the requirements of CP-TA's ATCA certification program. This also reflects our efforts to ensure that reliable and certified products are brought into the market,” commented Aditya Saraf, VP Sales and Marketing for Polaris Networks.
Advantech will be displaying the “Polaris Tested” stamp on their booth at the AdvancedTCA Summit.
